First day at school

FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL


I started school in Maniños when I was 5 years old .

I remember the first day. I went with my mum on foot. There were a lot of children in the playground. It was noisy. Some children cried a lot. I didn´t cry but I was nervous.

My teacher´s name was Pili. She was tall and beautiful. She had long wavy brown hair. She was very nice and friendly.
She was wearing a mini skirt , a jumper and white boots.


The classroom was small and it had round tables. There were 4 children in every table. There were maps and pictures on the walls. There was a small toilet inside the classroom !!


I remember my classmate María. She was taller than me and she had dark long straight hair. She had brown eyes . She was quiet and friendly. She was a good friend and we were together in the playground in the breaks. We played a lot together. We were friends and classmates for may years!!

First Day at School

I started school when I was six years old. I remember the first day.  There were about forty children in the classroom and it was very noisy. It was exciting  because the school was full of new things and my friends Dolores and Aurelio were there, but it  was a bit scary  because there were some children I didn´t know.

My teacher´s name was Mari Carmen. She wasn´t very beautiful but she was very sweet. She had brown eyes and short, wavy hair.She was really nice and she helped us with our coats and bags.

In the classroom, there were eight round tables. I sat next to Begoña, my new friend. Begoña was taller than me, with long, blond hair and green eyes. She was very kind and she was also very funny, she made me laugh all the time! We painted some pictures with trees and flowers and we played hide and seek in the playground at break.
It was a  lovely day!

A TOUR OF OUR SCHOOL. Example


We are sitting on the sofas in the main hall.
A: Hello my name is Antía.
G: Hello my name is Gabriela.
P: Hello my name is Pilar. Here we are on the ground floor. This is the reading corner. Students come and sit here during the breaks.

We stand up. We go next to the library.
G: This is the library and those are the Principal´s office and the Deputy and Vice principal’s office.
Let’s go inside and ask them some questions.

G: Sshhh, We must be quiet.  Serafín is the principal. Hello Serafín . What subjects do you teach?

A: This is the school libray. There are a lot of books here. You can read and borrow books from the library. My favourite books are graphic novels. Here is one of them: Frankenstein. I love horror stories. What is your favourite book? Begoña is the librarian. She also teaches Latin. She is very kind but she doesn´t like noisy students, you must be quiet in the library!!

P: Come this way. This is the assembly hall. We come here when there is an event at school. I love school plays or concerts but  I don’t like conferences. We sometimes come here for our exams. I hate exams.!

LET´S THINK ABOUT SCHOOL

Festival "O Pote"


O POTE

THE MOST POPULAR FESTIVAL IN MY TOWN IS “O POTE” FESTIVAL.

IT IS A VERY OLD FESTIVAL, IT IS MORE THAN 75 YEARS OLD.

IT TAKES PLACE IN MANIÑOS IN AUGUST, USUALLY THE LAST SUNDAY OF AUGUST.
IT LASTS ONE DAY.

IN THE MORNING THERE IS A MASS IN THE TOWN CHURCH , BUT THERE ISN´T PROCESSION. A LOT OF PEOPLE GO TO THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS BECAUSE THERE ARE GAMES, RACES AND THEN, THERE ARE PICNICS UNDER THE TREES AND SOME PEOPLE MAKE HUTS.

IN THE AFTERNOON THERE ARE TRADITIONAL DANCES AND MUSIC AND PEOPLE WEAR TRADITIONAL COSTUMES TO DANCE. THERE IS ALWAYS A FOOTBALL MATCH IN THE FOOTBALL PITCH "o pote".

I DON´T WEAR SPECIAL COSTUMES OR CLOTHES, I USUALLY WEAR CASUAL CLOTHES, JEANS ,T-SHIRT AND TRAINERS.

IN THE EVENING THERE IS ALWAYS A BAND AND A LOT OF PEOPLE COME TO DANCE AND SING UNTIL VERY LATE IN THE NIGHT!!

I ALWAYS GO WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS BECAUSE WE LOVE IT!

I LIKE SUMMER PARTIES AND FESTIVALS BUT “O POTE” IS THE MOST SPECIAL FOR ME!!
